Developmental Editing

I provide an in-depth review of works in progress. My editorial focus is creative nonfiction; personal, lyric, and hybrid essays; flash (fiction and nonfiction), memoir and literary nonfiction books.

Here’s what my editing packages includes:

  • A tailored plan to meet your writing needs, which starts with a Zoom call to identify your goals, review the editorial feedback process,  and establish deliverables and deadlines.

  • Supportive, craft-based feedback including a comprehensive editorial letter and line edits in the draft (using track changes) and a follow up call on Zoom.

  • Every project is different.I work with you to develop a plan that fits.

My editorial fee is $100/hour. I provide an estimate of time once the project has been defined.

  • "Andrea Firth doesn't just edit. Her instincts strike like lightning, slashing redundant phrases while breathing life into dying scenes. Bloated paragraphs shrink to sharp sentences. Meandering plots transform into arrows aimed at readers' hearts. Writers will emerge transformed. Under Andrea's eye, voices emerge louder, clearer, more authentic than I ever imagined."

Every edit or suggestion made has strengthened my work. I trust her completely and intend to solicit her guidance in shaping my memoir-in-progress."
